Getting There
Leave the M2 at Junction 2 and take the exit signed A228 Rochester, West Malling.
At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit signed M20, West Malling.
The small car park for Ranscombe is immediately on the right, with a white right-turn arrow marked on the road.
If you miss this turn, you can U-turn at the small local garage further down the hill.
Return to M2 Junction 2
Leaving the car park, turn left and follow the sign back to the motorway at the roundabout.
Ranscombe Park Reserve
Several trails are indicated by yellow waymarkers, and the North Downs Way also passes through the area.
This was one of the most surprising walks we have investigated. As soon as you walk around the corner in the lane, the noise and fumes of the traffic drop away, and the sense of space and quiet is totally amazing.
On a warm day you probably won't want to get back into the car at all. We lingered here, pretending to be working, even though this is clearly as dog friendly and enjoyable a place as anyone could wish for!
Length of walks – allow at least 45 minutes. Plenty of space and choices here.
Walk 1
Climb the hill up to the first waymarker on your right side, turn left, and then follow the path as it leads away from the railway line (fenced) and up into the peace and tranquillity of Kentish rural life.
Walk 2
Walk up the private lane to the second waymarker and select a trail to follow past the rape fields and into a secluded open valley beyond.
