Hounslow Heath

Map of M3 Junction 1 Walk

Length of walk: 30-60 minutes

Tamed as this large heath may appear today, it was once known as a haunt of highwaymen and women including the notorious Dick Turpin. Now part of the heath is designated as a nature reserve, and these areas are off limits to dogs.

From the car park, go towards the information board to join the broad concrete track onto the heath. It's possible that this track might remain from the 1 st World War when the heath was the base for aerial protection of London. Today it makes the heath accessible for wheelchair users.

The track leads through a field to a Public Footpath sign, where the main trails through the heath start and the facilities at the visitor centre can be reached.
