Jubilee River and Dorney Wetlands

Map of M4 Junction 7 Walk

Length of walk: 30-50 minutes

From the car park walk to the clearly marked entrance to the Jubilee River Way. This is a safe and attractive well tended path along the side of the Jubilee ‘River' – actually a flood management device made to look like a river which has created 11km of wetlands. Although the walk lies close to Heathrow it is quiet and peaceful, so that the sight but not sound of many aircraft comes as a surprise.

Walk straight as far as the bridge where there is a choice of waymarked routes, as well as viewing platforms and information boards describing the wetlands.

We avoided a swan's nest by not crossing the bridge, and took the signed Public Footpath running parallel to the main track. This path takes walkers away from the hazard of cyclists, which may be a relief to dogs and cyclists alike. Although on the day we were here, the relationship between dogs and cyclists was polite in the extreme.

Turn round at your half way point to return to the car park.
