Getting There
Sat Nav: SN5 3PA
Leave the M4 at Junction 16 and take the A3102, Eastbound 4th exit, Westbound 1st exit, signed Swindon.
At the roundabout take the first exit, signed West Swindon, The Lydiards and Lydiard Park.
At the next roundabout take the 1st exit signed Lydiard Park and Hook.
Then turn right at the brown sign to Lydiard Park and turn left into the car park.
Return to M4 Junction 16
Turn right from the car park and then left onto the main road.
At the roundabout take the 3rd exit signed M4, Wootton Bassett.
At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit signed M4, Wootton Bassett to rejoin the M4 at junction 16.
Lydiard Park
Circular lakeside walk – 40-50 minutes
Go past the visitor centre and café to turn right at the wooden post for the Lakeside Walk.
Walk straight ahead with the side of Lydiard House to the left, to follow the rolling grassland gently downhill to the lake.
There is a circular path around the lake. Cross the bridge on your left and then turn right into a wooded area. Pass the picnic tables and follow the path round to return to the green via a small footbridge.
There is plenty of space to relax and ramble in this 260 acre park, but note that only guide dogs are allowed in the house and museum.
Facilities
Free car park – closes at dusk, WC, café, visitor centre, children's playground and exhibitions. Poo bins.
