Getting There
Leave the M6 at Junction 10 and take the B4464, northbound 2nd exit, southbound 4th exit.
At the traffic lights, turn right onto the A462, signed Cannock, driving past the Noah's Ark pub.
At the mini roundabout continue ahead on the A462.
At the traffic lights by The Bridge pub, continue forward onto Bloxwich Road North and then right into Hunts Lane. The car park is on the first corner on the right hand side
Return to M6 Junction 10
Turn left out of the car park.
At the T-junction turn left.
At the traffic lights take the A462 signed Darlaston, Willenhall.
At the mini roundabout turn left (A462) to Clarkes Lane and pass the Noah's Ark.
At the traffic lights go straight on and at the almost immediate next set of traffic lights, turn left onto Wolverhampton Road West, signed M6 to return to the M6 Junction 10.
Rough Wood Country Park
Leave the car park to enter the wood through the anti-cycle gate in the far corner. As you walk along the path to the right, the land opens out into a large green clearing to the left. Continue on the path for now, though, to go slightly uphill. This path emerges onto the banks of the canal.
Follow the path, with the canal to the right, as it continues through a fine mix of woodland, meadow and waterside. This area is evidently a popular spot for local dog walkers. We didn't see any humans not accompanied by a canine companion.
Walk along the side of the canal until the fairly clear path leading off to the left. Follow this up some rough steps made with railway sleepers, and this will bring you round to the large green clearing you saw at the start of the walk.
