Getting There

Leave the M6 at Junction 15 to take the A519, signed Eccleshall, Shrewsbury.
Enter Hanchurch.
At the traffic lights, take the (confusing) left lane to continue straight on the A519.
Drive underneath the motorway and then take the turning to the right signed Stableford.
Stay on this lane until entering the woodland, and the entrance to the car park is on the left. There is one car park as soon as you turn in, and a further car park a little way up the hill on the right hand track.
Return to M6 Junction 15
Turn right out of the car park, and then left at the end of the lane to join the A519. Stay on the A519 to rejoin the M6 junction 15 at the roundabout.

Dereth's Pointers
Hanchurch Hills

There are several clearly marked trails in these wonderful woods, and the trail markers are clearly visible from the second car park.
The Red route is about 2 miles (40 minutes), and the Green trail is just over 3 miles (90 minutes). If you have the time, a Blue trail is 7 miles.
The woodland here is perfect for dogs to really let off steam and thunder through the trees at speed. Even on the hottest of days, the cooling canopy of branches provides shade and the leaf strewn tracks are kind to car-tired travelling paws.
The area is popular with local dog walkers, and there is plenty of space for dogs to play together comfortably.
Thanks to Dereth Heighway for telling us about this walk, and her pointers.
