Getting There

Leave the M9 at Junction 4 and follow the signs to Bathgate, Livingston A801, northbound 2nd exit, southbound 4th exit.
At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the B825, brown signed to Muiravonside Country Park. Enter Muiravonside and turn right to enter the country park. There is a hard to spot signboard at the entrance, which is just after a sign for some dog boarding kennels. Continue along the driveway to the car park on the left. The car park is gated and closes at dusk.
Return to M9 Junction 4
Leave the park and turn left. At the roundabout in Bowhouse take the 4th exit, signed M9 and A801 Falkirk, to return to the M9.
Muiravonside Country Park

Length of walk: 30 minutes or longer
Follow the signed path from the car park to the visitor centre, where dogs get a warm welcome and there is plenty of information about the park and surrounding area.
From there, walk behind the café to the start of a marked woodland trail going in the direction of Avonbridge. This route follows the river upstream and can be extended for a longer walk of a couple of miles. It’s pleasant, shady walking on a well-maintained path.
There is also a signed trail that follows the river downstream – but when we visited (July 2008) this was closed because of a landslip.
Another possibility is a short circular path from the car park, which cuts out the visitor centre, and goes towards an aquaduct and then round to return past the farm.
Facilities
