Getting There
Leave the M11 at Junction 7 and take the B1393 signed Epping, Northbound 1st exit, Southbound 3rd exit.
Pass a McDonalds on left.
Enter Thornwood Common, and turn right onto Uplands Road, signed Epping Green.
Park in either the Cock and Magpie or The Travellers Friend car park if you intend to use the facilities, or otherwise carefully on the road.
Return to M11 Junction 7
Turn right out of the Cock and Magpie.
At the crossroads, turn left onto the B1393. Continue on this road to return to junction 7 of the M11.
Epping Long Green
Leave the car park and turn left down a broad grassy track, known as Epping Long Green.
This is indeed a long and green walk, with no instructions necessary other than to remind you to turn round at your chosen halfway time. The path is 2.5km in total.
Early one Sunday morning in April, this track was sparkling with dewy May bloom and buttercups and with no trace of the 21st century to be seen or heard. A total delight for dogs and people!
