Getting There
Leave the M27 at Junction 2 and take the A36 signed Salisbury.
At the next roundabout, take the A36 Salisbury. There are services on this roundabout.
Enter Wellow.
Turn left, signed Bramshaw and drive down Black Hill Road.
Cross a cattle grid and the car park is on the left.
Return to M27 Junction 2
Turn right out of the car park. At the T-junction turn right, signed Southampton A36.
At the roundabout take the 3rd exit, signed Southampton, Ringwood, Portsmouth M27. Continue on this road to rejoin the M27.
Half Moon Common
This walk is best described as a dogs' delight. Walking onto the Common from the car park leads to wide swathes of grass between the trees and bracken.
There are no marked paths here, but there are no navigational difficulties in heading away from the road into the lush woodland. As a general indication, bear rightwards rather than leftwards to stay clear of the nearby golf and cricket areas, not that there is any shortage of space here.
In an excess of riches here, Black Hill Common lies on the other side of the lane to the car park.
