Getting There

Burton Dassett Hills Country Park

Leave the M40 at Junction 12 and take the B4451 signed Gaydon, Kineton, Northbound turn left, Southbound turn right.

At the roundabout take the 1st exit signed Temple Herdewyke, Warmington B4100.

Turn left, signposted Northend, Fenny Compton, Country Park.

Drive up the hill, over the cattle grid and enter the Burton Dassett Hills Country Park. Be careful as sheep roam freely on the road. Near the top of the hill, the car park is on the left.

Return to M40 Junction 12

Exit the park the way you came and turn right onto the B4100.

At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the B4451, signed Bishop's Itchington, Harbury.

Turn right to access the M40 for both northbound and southbound traffic. Northbound traffic takes the first right, southbound traffic takes the second right.

Map of M40 Junction 12 Walk

Length of walk: 20-60 minutes

The landscape here is wonderful, with 100 acres of lush green rolling hills which you are free to walk around.

The only drawback for dogs is that there are a lot of sheep here and if your dog is a sheep-chaser then you may find the walks at junctions 11 or 13 a more relaxing option, especially during lambing time (Spring). Otherwise, an extending lead is a good compromise.

There are several clearly marked paths leading away from the car park, and there are also signs to sights of interest in the park such as the beacon site, a 12th century church and the tower.
