Leave the M42 at Junction 2 and take the A441 signed Birmingham, Eastbound 1st exit, Westbound 3rd exit.
At the roundabout take the 2nd exit to Birmingham A441. Turn left opposite the Texaco garage to park in the car park of the Hopwood House Inn.
Return to M42 Junction 2
Turn right from the car park, and at the roundabout take the 1st exit signed Motorway A441. The next roundabout is for the M42.
Birmingham & Worcester Canalside Walk
Length of walk – 30 minutes or so
Leaving the Hopwood House car park, turn left up the road and then take the first left onto a private road to walk alongside the canal which will be on your right.
The road bends away from the canal just after a group of houses, and at this point cross the grass to join the towpath.
You can't get lost on a towpath, and this is a great place to notice the many birds that have made the canal their home. There are also brightly coloured narrow boats to admire at their moorings after Bridge 66.
If you wish to extend the walk, leave the towpath at Bridge 66 to join a way-marked public footpath (either to the left or to the right) although the fields here have stock grazing and dogs will have to be on leads, so it's probably best to stay by the canal.
