Getting There

Leave the M50 at Junction 3 and take the B4221 signed Newent, Gorsley.
Turn left just after the Roadmaker Inn into Ivy House Lane (single track with passing places). Take the 2nd turning on the left, passing the driveway to ‘The Larches'. At the T-junction turn left and drive uphill to enter Dymock Forest. The entrance to the unsigned Forestry Commission car park is on the right.
Return to M50 Junction 3
Turn left out of the car park and then take the first right turn, Swagwater Lane.
Turn right at the T-junction, and then turn right at the next T-junction by the Roadmaker Inn. This road returns to the M50.
Dymock Forest

This is dog walking country at its best, through woodland maintained by the Forestry Commission.
There are no signed trails, but the paths are clear and easy to follow. We took the path which started at the right side of the car park and were rewarded with a fine view over the valley and the wooded hills beyond. The path heads gently downhill through scenes of busy activity from butterflies, beetles and ants.
It's easy to lose all sense of time here, and we wandered happily through the trees for nearly an hour. If you have a schedule to keep, check your start time!
