Getting There

Leave the M55 at Junction 1 and take the A6 Garstang, Eastbound 1st exit, Westbound 3rd exit.
At the Broughton crossroads turn left signed B5269 Elswick, Woodplumpton Lane.
Take the first left, Whittle Hill, signed Woodplumpton, Kirkham.
Turn left on the B5411 signed Woodplumpton and then park in the Wheatsheaf car park on the left hand side.
Return to M55 Junction 1
Turn right out of the car park. Turn right, signed Broughton, and then right again, signed Broughton.
At the traffic lights turn right, signed M55 and M6 to return to the motorway.
The Wheatsheaf, Woodplumpton
Leave the car park and turn left to walk on the road past the church. At a driveway to some new houses on the left there is an easy to miss public footpath sign. Follow this down a track to the left and walk through a farm courtyard and through the gate on the left. Stay on the track to pass a group of houses.
At a crossing of ways there is an entrance to a large recreation field diagonally ahead. Small dogs may be satisfied with a scamper around this, but for more exercise continue straight ahead on the track as far as Toplands Farm. Return the same way.
Note that the track is also used by farm vehicles and as an access road to the houses.
Facilities
At The Wheatsheaf. Dogs are welcome in the bar, and also outside in the garden. Avoid the haunted fireplace in the bar!
