Northbound and Southbound directions.
Leave the M56 at Junction 5 and follow the motorway ‘leg' to the roundabout.
Take the 2nd exit.
At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit, with a brown sign to Styal Country Park, and B5166 Cheadle.
Enter Wythenshawe.
At the T-junction turn right, signed Styal Country Park, B5166. This is Styal Road.
Enter Styal and turn right at the brown sign to enter the car park.
Return to M56 Junction 5
Exit the car park and turn right.
Enter Wythenshawe, and turn left at the traffic lights, signed M56.
At the roundabout take the 1st exit, signed M56/Airport.
At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit to return to the motorway.
Styal Country Park
A nineteenth century cotton will may not seem to be the obvious place to walk the dog, but amongst these not-so satanic mills of industrial Manchester there's plenty of green too.
Leave the car park at the end, and go through a wooden kissing gate on the left. This is a waymarked public footpath to Wilmslow.
Follow the yellow arrows across the fields on the well-trodden path that is very easy to follow. Then return to the car park.
If you have industrial enthusiasts on board, the National Trust exhibitions are well worth a visit. The cotton mill itself is water powered, and still produces cloth using 19th century technology. Fortunately the textile workers are adults, and not living examples of the hundreds of workhouse orphans who were sent here to work in the 18th century.

Car Park - charge of £2.70, NT members free. WC, restaurant, NT shop. Note, there's a separate charge of £3.00 if you decide to visit the historic mill.
