Chorlton Water Park

The regenerating flame burns strongly here, with this very attractive water park recreated from a former gravel pit, sewage works and a landfill site.
From the car park follow the ‘Dogs this Way' sign in the far left corner to find a well trodden path to the canine visitor entrance and poo bin.
The lake is the main focal point here (this is where the sewage works used to be) so head that way, and turn right to walk with the lake to the left on the Trans-Pennine trail. This runs alongside the River Mersey for some considerable distance, and is fine for off-lead walking. Note that the path is shared with bicycles, and can get busy at weekends.
A bicycle free route can be found by turning left at the lake to follow the Trans-Pennine trail across the Mersey to the designated foot paths in Kenworthy Woods, which is where the rubbish tip used to be.
This is a hugely likeable dog walking spot, where you can expect cheerful greetings from local dog walkers.

Free car park – closed at dusk, WC, information points, children's play area, picnic area, wardens on duty, dog poo bins.
