Clifton Country Park

Clifton Country Park, set in the Irwell Valley, is a haven of calm despite its proximity to the motorway. On the day we visited, there were few people around and the air was pungent with the scent of wild flowers. It's a marvellous place for dogs and people alike.
There are several marked trails in the park. The Perimeter Trail (easy) is 2.5km, the Wet Earth Trail (moderate) is 3.5km and the Lake Trail (moderate) is 4.5km. As well as the trails, there are other footpaths and bridleways for wandering on.
The path circling the lake is hard surfaced and (according to the information provided by the park) is accessible to wheelchair users, including those with motorised wheel chairs
Hot dogs will appreciate a quick dash to the lake. Go through the gates at the end of the car park, pass the children's play area and then over the grass and down to the lake.
