Getting There

Leave the A74(M) at junction 17 and follow the signs for Lockerbie B7068, northbound 3rd exit, southbound turn left.
At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit signed Lockerbie B7068 and immediately turn left.
At the T-junction turn left and turn right at the brown sign to enter the Lockerbie Manor Hotel grounds.
Return to A74(M) Junction 17
Turn left at the end of the hotel drive. Take the 1st right turn – this is unsigned and if you see an industrial estate before turning then you’ve gone too far.
Go over the traffic light controlled bridge, and then turn right at a T-junction. Thereafter the A74(M) is signed to Junction 17.
Lockerbie Manor Hotel

Length of walk: 35-50 minutes and longer options
This walk lies within the extensive grounds of the hotel, and is a very safe space for dogs to let off steam.
From the car park, walk slightly downhill with the hotel on your left. Go through a gate, ignoring a smaller path to the right. Turn right at the path junction and then turn right onto a narrower path just before a white cottage. The path seems overgrown at this point, but soon opens out and then passes round a 5-bar gate criss-crossing a stream and leading gently uphill. Jem was entranced by the scent of small furry animals on the hill, and would probably have snuffled around for hours. We turned round after 30 minutes, feeling revitalised by this most perfect dog walk.
Sturdy shoes or wellies are recommended for this walk, and shorts not advisable.
Facilities

At the Lockerbie Manor Hotel: everything here that you and the dog could wish for. Coffee, meals, tea, well-behaved dogs on leads are permitted in the lounge, dog water provided. Resident pooch Bobby is on hand to meet and greet new arrivals. The hotel offers old-fashioned, relaxing comfort (and outstanding shortbread).
