Getting There

Leave the M77 at junction 1 and follow the sign to Pollokshields B768, northbound turn right, southbound turn left.
At the traffic lights, turn right signed Pollokshaws B769, also brown signed Burrell Collection.
Continue to follow the B769 and brown signs to the Burrell Collection until the entrance to the country park is signed with a brown sign to the right, for Pollok House and Country Park.
The car park is just after the entrance to Pollok House. Don’t be tempted to park in the passing bays on this long approach way.
Return to M77 Junction 1
Follow the one-way system to leave the park at the Dumbreck Road exit. Turn left onto the B769.
Follow the signs for the M77 to return to junction 1.
Pollok House and Country Park

Length of walk: 30 minutes or longer
There’s 360 acres of parkland to explore here, and a marked trail through the woodland that goes past some of the historical natural and manmade features of the park.
A map and complete programme of the many events taking place in the park can be downloaded from the Glasgow City Council website.
There is a small area surrounding the house where dogs must be on leads, but otherwise the grounds are open to unfettered canine exploration. There is a herd of Highland Cattle in the grounds, although we didn’t see them, and wise dog walkers will avoid upsetting them.
The park itself was once the estate of the powerful Maxwell family, who gifted it and the house, to the City of Glasgow in the 1960s after 700 years or so of ownership. There is an entry charge to look at the house and the Burrell Collection of art masterpieces, but entry to the park is free.
