Getting There

Pollok Country Park

Leave the M77 at junction 2 and follow the sign for Pollokshaws B762, northbound turn right, southbound turn left.

At the Round Toll roundabout take the 1st exit signed Clyde Tunnel, Pollokshaws B769.

Follow the B769 until the entrance to the country park is signed with a brown sign to the left, for Pollok House and Country Park.

The car park is just after the entrance to Pollok House. Don’t be tempted to park in the passing bays on this long approach way.

Return to M77 Junction 2

At the Round Toll roundabout take the 3rd exit signed M77 and continue ahead to return to junction 2 of the M77.

Pollok House and Country Park

Map of M77 Junction 2 Walk

Length of walk: 30 minutes or longer

There’s 360 acres of parkland to explore here, and a marked trail through the woodland that goes past some of the historical natural and manmade features of the park.

A map and complete programme of the many events taking place in the park can be downloaded from the Glasgow City Council website.

There is a small area surrounding the house where dogs must be on leads, but otherwise the grounds are open to unfettered canine exploration. There is a herd of Highland Cattle in the grounds, although we didn’t see them, and wise dog walkers will avoid upsetting them.

The park itself was once the estate of the powerful Maxwell family, who gifted it and the house, to the City of Glasgow in the 1960s after 700 years or so of ownership. There is an entry charge to look at the house and the Burrell Collection of art masterpieces, but entry to the park is free.
