Take a motorway break at a Wyevale garden centre

Posted on Monday, 18th July 2016 - 10:54am in Articles by Lezli

When travelling with a dog, it can be difficult to find a service station that you feel comfortable stopping at. A lot of them are surrounded by traffic and aren’t well-equipped to deal with a dog who’s spent the last few hours holed up in the back of a car.
You want somewhere your dog can explore, as well as all of the usual things a service station provides — toilets, food and the chance to sit down. Wyevale Garden Centres offer all of this, making them great, dog-friendly alternatives.
Each centre has dog walking facilities, which you and your furry companion can use to stretch your legs and enjoy the fresh air. For the rest of the family, there are beautiful outdoor spaces with seating, as well as play areas where kids can have fun and let off steam. The centres also have restaurants and cafés that offer home-made food, which definitely beats the usual service station sandwiches.
Wyevale Garden Centres provide a haven for the entire family, which is exactly what you need during a break from travelling. There’s also a huge number of them spread across the country, which means you’ll never be too far from one. Driving with Dogs has listings of Wyevale garden centres linked to their motorway exit, or on a major A-road. You can even download a sat nav point of interest file that will tell you where the nearest centre is. These are compatible with sat navs from many top brands, including Garmin, TomTom and NavMan.
So, when you’re out travelling with your prized pooch, you don’t have to settle for stressful trips to service stations — there are better options out there. And Wyevale Garden Centres are a great choice!

With nearly 200 walks from the Driving with Dogs website, this handy little book is an ideal guide to the best dog-friendly pubs and dog walks within 5 miles of UK motorway exits.

Like the website walks, you'll also find information about campervan access, disabled facilities, kids' activities, safe parking places, sat-nav codes and written route directions too.

Walking the Dog: Motorway Walks for dogs and drivers is available from the RAC shop (link URL and all the usual online bookstores such as amazon.

If your local bookstore doesn't have a copy in stock, you can order by quoting the ISBN number: 978-1-845841-02-7
