No Bite is Right campaign

Posted on Friday, 29th July 2016 - 12:10pm in Articles by Lezli

Sharron Davies is urging people to make sure their animals are in tip top shape and explaining the best methods to avoid pets being infected by parasites. She had been around the country backing the No Bite is Right campaign and this week they are at the New Forest Country show discussing some risks when travelling with your pets.

Sharron Davies backs No Bite is Right campaign and heads around the country – this week we’re at New Forest County Show discussing risks of travelling with your pets

Watch our video of the New Forest County Show, where Sharron Davies and the Tickbuster team of experts tell you how you can keep your entire family, even if you’re a pet owner or not, happy and healthy as we explore the great outdoors this summer.

Summer school holidays are well under way and families are taking to the roads to discover and explore their country with their beloved pets in tow. However, we are urging pet owners to be vigilant against parasites which thrive in warmer weather. There are many dangers out there including ticks, fleas and lungworm and some parasites bite us as well as our pets – like ticks.

As people and their pets are hiking the hills and fields of Britain’s pastures green, Sharron Davies is urging them to make sure their animals are in tip top shape to support their exploration and the best methods to avoid being infected by parasites.

The former Olympic swimmer is backing the No Bite is Right campaign and is making her way around the country on the Tickbuster Tour, alongside a panel of experts including TV vet Paul Manktelow and parasite expert Ian Wright, to answer any questions people have about parasites and their effects on their pets.

The Tickbuster tour (which journeyed to Ayr and Devon County Shows in May), is highlighting new research that shows that almost one in ten pet owners don’t do anything to prevent their pets being bitten by ticks and fleas, while only a quarter treat their pet with a preventative treatment at the recommended frequency. Furthermore, less than 60% believe they have control over their pet’s protection from parasites like ticks, fleas and lungworm.

But while nasty and in some cases potentially fatal – all of these parasites and the diseases they spread can be protected against by regular use of suitable preventative products available from vets.
