Lottery money has transformed this 200 acre park into a pleasant walking spot. It's on a more intimate scale than the better known Sutton Park, and can be made into a longer walk with some maps and planning.

The ruined castle at Newcastle Emlyn is perfectly placed if you want to combine a visit there with shopping in the town without a huge amount of organisation.

The castle and grounds are great for a short stroll, with some space for ball games and running around. Depending on the level of the water, your dog might get the chance for a quick dip in the Teifi - but take care with the current.

Anglesey dog walks

Massive forest and sands, with almost limitless opportunities to walk a different route on every visit. Jem voted this his best Anglesey walk!

Update from JE January 2013:

Please note: Newborough Forest Car Park is shut until Easter 2013. You can park half way down but it is quite a long way to the beach. I live near there and have met a few disgruntled people in the forest.

Car park is now open again

We are a small site beside the river Cleddau. We have our own access to the shore via a hard road, ideal for those with canoes kayaks and small boats, a quiet area for anglers. There is also a path that that takes you round Carew Castle and Mill, great for dog walks. There are great views from the campsite, of Lawrenny and the river flowing past it wherever you camp.

MOTORWAY WALKS - The Book

With nearly 200 walks from the Driving with Dogs website, this handy little book is an ideal guide to the best dog-friendly pubs and dog walks within 5 miles of UK motorway exits.

Like the website walks, you'll also find information about campervan access, disabled facilities, kids' activities, safe parking places, sat-nav codes and written route directions too.

Walking the Dog: Motorway Walks for dogs and drivers is available from the RAC shop (link URL http://www.racshop.co.uk/rac-books.html) and all the usual online bookstores such as amazon.

If your local bookstore doesn't have a copy in stock, you can order by quoting the ISBN number: 978-1-845841-02-7
