Amlwch, Anglesey

Description

Join the 124 mile Anglesey coastal path for a while - a definite cobweb remover! The best walking is in the direction of the lighthouse where there's a short circular route.

Walks

Coastal Path

Coastal Path, 240 minutes

The route of this walk is waymarked throughout, so if you don't have the map it's not likely to be a problem.

Follow the waymarkers with the sea to the left and the lighthouse ahead, and keep going until reaching Porth Eilian Beach. The headland here is said to be a good place from which to spot dolphins - so keep an eye out for them and you may be lucky.

At Porth Eilian there's a choice of either returning along the coast path, or putting the dog on the lead and walking back on country lanes. There's an extraordinary 12th century church, now restored, which is well worth a look if you're interested in such things. Follow the road signs back to Port Amlwch; the hiking waymarkers will take you back to the coastal path.

MOTORWAY WALKS - The Book

With nearly 200 walks from the Driving with Dogs website, this handy little book is an ideal guide to the best dog-friendly pubs and dog walks within 5 miles of UK motorway exits. Like the website walks, you'll also find information about campervan access, disabled facilities, kids' activities, safe parking places, sat-nav codes and written route directions too.

Driving with Dogs is working with the Border Collie Trust GB to bring you the Motorway Walks book at £9.99 (plus p&p). Every book sold will include a donation to the work of the Trust. Jem, the collie who has tested all the motorway walks, is a Border Collie Trust rescue and we're delighted that donations from the book he inspired will go back to helping the Trust with their work.
