Description
A very attractive valley with a riverside path winding through trees. There is a no-hills route, and it's a lovely spot for a dog walk on summer days.
Details
Mona's Restaurant: Coffee, all day breakfasts, lunches, sandwiches, cakes, hot and cold beverages. Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm; Saturdays 9am to 5pm; Sundays 9.30am to 4pm. These times may be extended to evenings during the summer.
Walk
There are four marked trails in the lower part of the glen:
The shortest is the Tom of the Tae End Trail which goes to a Gamekeeper's bridge where a toll was once levied for crossing the river.(2km and green waymarkers)
The Englishtown Trail: a buggy and wheelchair accessible route that runs alongside the river. It's just over 3.5k and signed with yellow markers. Every labrador will choose this one.
The Ballycullo (Blue) Trail: is a bit longer at 4.5kms with a bit of an uphill to get to the panoramic views of the city, including the Mourne Mountains, Stormont and Harland and Wolff. Signed with blue markers.
The Hannahstown Trail is a more challenging 6.5km and leads from the lower Glen into the upper Glen (National Trust). Walking boots are a good idea for this one. Red waymarkers.
