A really nice walk starting in the pretty village of Hartington. Very easy going and not steep, although we went on a wet day and some sections in the first couple of miles were quite slippery. The directions are spot on. Pub good and happy to let dogs in. Note that the WC at the start of the walk is just across the road from the car park. Distance was closer to 6 3/4 miles according to our GPS.

Description

This is one of our favourite walks, and no matter how many times we walk here there's always something new to see in these dales.  The route we've chosed here is an easy-going stroll that starts with fabulous views over Derbyshire's signature drystone walls on ancient tracks that you will probably have all to yourself, and then circles round into the dales.

Well worth taking some refreshments with you, there are plenty of superb snacking spots along the way.

This is one of the Waggy Trails set of 20 walks in the Derbyshire Peak District with as few sheep, stiles and road sections as possible.  The walks are between 2 and 8 miles, and give you a full holiday's worth of dog walks!

To avoid disappointment, please print the walks before you go as WiFi signals in the area can be unreliable.

The Waggy Trails walks have a full description of the route with photos, but for your additional safety we recommend the OS Outdoor Leisure 24 White Peak - because if you want to explore off-route you'll need to get back!
