Dog walk near Tal-y-Bont, Clwyd, Wales
Description
A rare chance to to walk on one of the few remaining Roman roads in Wales, with the added bonus of a stone circle and several sets of standing stones as well. On a weekday it's highly unlikely you'll encounter another soul up here - so definitely worth going equipped with map, flask and waterproofing.

Walk
The directions are straightforward, although the OS map app is handy. Go straight ahead from the car park on the left fork of the paths ahead of you. (Bear the pylons in mind as a landmark for the return). Pass the standing stones and several cairns to the left, and keep going on the Roman Road as far as the junction with the long distance North Wales Path. Bear right at this junction for a short detour to ponder over the incised stones slightly ahead, and then return to the junction. The choice now is whether to keep going a while on the North Wales path as it skirts around the side of Foel-ganol, or turn round and retrace your path to the car park. We've kept this route as easy as possible, but strongly advise that you get the OS App, or a map. Mists and heavy rain can happen in all seasons and even a fairly straight path can get disorienting.
