Pengwern Old Hall - Pengwern Old Hall

Description

Pengwern Old Hall is a fine example of a country estate that is quietly tucked away in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park. The Hall itself ranks as one of the most significant early gentry houses of Meirionydd, dating back to the mid 15th century.
In its present form, the house largely retains the late Elizabethan appearance, and once inside, the rooms are extremely spacious and sumptuously furnished. This wonderful Manor house and two beautiful detached cottages, formerly barns, have been thoughtfully designed and furnished throughout, provide exceptional holiday accommodation.
The properties occupy a superb setting amongst 80 acres, which guests are encouraged to explore. Each has its own patio area with furniture. The grounds largely consist of meadowland, woodland (awarded SSSI) and riverside walks. The neighbouring town of Blaenau Ffestiniog is where the steam train can be caught to travel through the valley absorbing the breathtaking scenery, or where visitors see what life was like for the miners who worked the Llechwedd slate caverns. The seaside town of Porthmadog or Portmeirion can also be visited.
Portmeirion was made famous by the Clough family for its awe inspiring Italianate village - featured in the TV series The Prisoner. Golf, fishing, horse riding plus a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants locally. Pub 1 mile.
