Walks and bridleways criss-cross the countryside, and being at the foot of the North Yorks Moors National Park, 3 miles from the market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Pickering, this makes an excellent touring base.

The lovely town of Helmsley is popular all year round, with Duncombe Park, ruined castle and walled garden. Pickering is home to the popular North Yorks Moors Steam Railway, and Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington are worth visiting. Free trout fishing available locally.
