Dinckley Court

Description

Comprising a spacious main house and attached wing with its own separate entrance, this comfortably furnished holiday home makes a perfect retreat for large parties or several families holidaying together. The main reception room has wooden floors and a wood-burning stove as well as Sky TV, DVD and surround sound - perfect for relaxing get-togethers - there is also a study area on a galleried floor. All bedrooms have TV, six of which are en-suite. The conservatory dining area offers enough space for all guests to dine together, with views over the large garden and doors opening onto a patio barbecue area with further outside tables and seating within the gardens of Dinckley Court, which lead down to the river, overlooking open farmland beyond. There is excellent boat mooring and local boat hire which can be moored privately here; fishing is also enjoyed when in season, or at Orchid Lakes with specialist carp coarse fishing lakes ½ mile away.
Located in 8 acres on the banks of the River Thames, the property lies in one of the most picturesque areas of South Oxfordshire, within the small hamlet of Burcot-on-Thames, close to the historic towns of Abingdon and Oxford, with Dorchester-on-Thames less than a mile away. A Salters Steamer Boat can be caught from Oxford and back to Days Lock and a walk taken back to Dinckley Court, or Nuneham Courtneys arboretum can be visited - full of amazing trees, plants and beautiful peacocks. Restaurants within 10 miles for food lovers include Raymond Blanc’s Quatre de Saison, the famous Crazy Bear Thai restaurant, The Seven Stars at Marsh Baldon (excellent traditional pub food), and the Chequers pub, 400 yards away, serving great British food. Historic Oxford is 15 minutes by bus. Henley and Windsor, with its royal castle, are both within a hour’s drive, with the Georgian Heritage city of Bath and the English Cotswolds slightly further afield. Shops 1 mile.
From July to August, a marquee is set up in the garden, close to the house with seating, tables, crockery and cutlery for 18.
