Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

Mewslade dog-friendly beach, Gower Peninsula, Wales

Description

A pretty little beach on the Gower and much quieter than many other beaches in summer. There's a walk to get there, and it's worth checking that you'll be arriving when the tide is out.   Kind thanks to Roger and Ann Hiley for kindly allowing DwD to use photos from their website

Details

GPS coords for parking: 51.5659, -4.2707  You can park in a farmer's field and put money in the honesty box. Otherwise, there's nothing here. The path can get muddy, and is very tough for buggies. Dogs need to be on leads for a short time by the cliffs and livestock.

Walk

Alfie loves his walkies down to the beach through the valley. Only bad point is that the beach vanishes below the water at high tide, and the undercurrents here can be very strong indeed so it's not good for swimming.  But for a delightful walk and a splash away from the more popular beaches in summer this is a gem.
