Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

Harlow Wood dog walk, Nottinghamshire

A quiet corner of Sherwood Forest that is well worth exploring.

There's a small cafe (and probably WCs - but we couldn't find them!) in the car park. Some of the trails are shared with horse riders, although we've never seen one.

There's acres of woodland here, with easy to follow paths.

Park in the first car park on the left by the tiny leisure centre and cafe, just before the entrance to Portland College. This is a public car park, but dogs need to be on leads until you're off the College grounds (no more than 5 minutes).

Enter the college campus and head towards the visitors' car park, and then bear right to skirt the side of the playing field and enter the woodland ahead.

We usually head up the slope and then either turn left or go straight on, and pick paths fairly randomly to make a 2-3 mile circular walk. There's plenty of forest, and opportunities for a much longer walk too.

In comparison with the nearby Haywood Oaks, this part of Sherwood Forest is much quieter and you'll rarely see more than a couple of other dogs.
