Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

Long, sandy dog-friendly beach Barmouth, Wales

Description

If you're looking for a traditional day out at the seaside, this is the perfect spot. Dogs are welcome on a long stretch of the beach.   Fresh doughnuts, amusement arcades, saucy postcards and donkey rides survive here, along with a massively long sandy beach that never gets over-crowded.

Details

GPS coords for on-road parking: 52.7250, -4.0635  Dogs are allowed on the East side of the beach - past the donkeys - and have plenty of room for ball games, digging and splashing.  You could probably take a pack of hounds to the beach and not disturb anyone else!   Parking all along the promenade, and in one of the many beachside car parks. All are P&D.

Walk

There are dozens of walks starting from Barmouth, and you'll find books and maps of many of these in the Driving with Dogs bookstore. For an easy to follow dog walk, a good place to start is to cross the iconic bridge across the estuary and then keep going straight ahead on the footpath by the rail line to reach the disused rail line to Dolgellau. It's now a leisure path.  There are lots of places to dip on and off the hard-surfaced walk, including tracks into forest land. Also a number of picnic tables and benches along the way.
