Really easy to find dog walk starting literally seconds away from the M4 motorway exit. A mixture of woodland and Public Footpath with stunning views over the Cotswolds. It's a useful stopping point between Chippenham and Bristol.
The wood's used a lot for gay sex, so stay on the Cotswold Way path which runs to the side of the woodland.
Free parking, WC (not disabled), snacks van, picnic tables.
Getting there: leave the M4 at J18 and take the A46 Bath. Be in the right hand lane. Turn right almost immediately and onto a lane used mainly for highway maintenance. Continue to car park.
Length of walk: 30-40 minutes
Leave the car park and cross the lane to a Public Footpath sign directly ahead. Follow the waymarker onto the Cotswold Way, marked Dyrham 2 miles. Enter a field and turn left to follow a blue waymarker arrow. Stay on this path around the edge of the field with the wood to the left. As the path slides gently downhill, pass another waymarker confirming the route. The field will be on the right and a bank on the left. Halfway down the hill turn left at the blue Cotswold Way arrow into the next field, with the hedgerow to the left.
We continued on this path as far as a lane, and then turned back to return.
