Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

M6 Junction 16 dog walk and dog-friendly heritage pub, Staffordshire

Premium

Some pub opening times and dog rules are still changing. Please check your chosen pub is able to welcome you before making plans.

Description

A rural walk over the fields before returning to the village pub, where solicitors rub shoulders with shepherds - and dogs get a good welcome too.   This is a gem of a motorway break, and once found it'll probably become a favourite.

Great walk and very friendly pub

Very friendly and welcoming traditional pub with very good food and quick service. Followed by a lovely run across the fields.

Nice short walk spot

Very convenient from the motorway and a lovely little village. Footpath signs were a little unclear, but we had a nice 20m walk in the fields, and then some lunch in the beer garden at the back of The White Lion, which was basic but nice.

Idyllic setting!

Within minutes from the M6 is this wonderful old village pub. We arrived 12 minutes after lunchtime opening and secured one of the last available tables. I’d recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. Get food, incredibly friendly staff, dog friendly and lovely cozy ambience. At the back of the church (opposite the pub) it opens up to open fields where our springer spaniel could let off steam before getting back on the road. Highly recommend. Slow unhurried service - we weren’t in any rush, just lovely to soak up the ambience and listen to the local banter.

Nice pub - strange vibe

Stopped over on a hot day and found it a bit mixed and edgy. The pub itself is old and authentic. Outdoor areas were alright but in the bits between the toilets a bit uncomfortable.

Great Food!

We stopped for lunch, fabulous food and friendly staff. We did start the walk, but despite the weather being dry the grass was long and wet and we weren't appropriately dressed.
