Walk
From the Brig Inn, turn right to walk on River Street for a few yards. Then bear left at the Riverside Footpath sign to walk on a well-trodden path with the river on the left. The path winds through deeply shaded glades of oaks and ashes following the meandering course of the river below.
The full length of the path is 3 miles to Annan, so walk to your own half-way point and then return to the Brig Inn on the same path.
The path can be muddy in wet weather, when wellies or boots are a good idea.
The river current seemed to be quite strong, so we didn’t let Jem swim here. Bigger dogs might enjoy a paddle and fresh water drink near the start of the walk when the path is at river level – but it doesn’t seem to be a safe place for dog swimming.
