M74 junction 8 dog walk and a garden centre, Scotland
Description
A mix of activities here, with tasty home cooking on offer in a garden centre (with spotlessly clean loos) and then a truly rural footpath dog walk - best attempted before you succumb to the cakes!
Details
At Gouldings garden centre. Spotlessly clean WCs and disabled facilities. Tasty homemade meals at very reasonable prices available, and a large selection of fresh baking too. Dogs are allowed inside the garden centre and at the outside patio tables. Some restaurant tables overlook the large car park so that you can keep an eye on the dog in the car if sitting outside isn't possible.
Walk
Length of walk: 35-45 minutes
Wellies/walking boots recommended in wet weather
Turn left out of the car park and walk back towards the mock-Tudor Best Western hotel (no dogs here) as far as a public footpath pointer on the left. Turn left onto the footpath, which runs uphill from Clatty Brae to Hill Road.
The start of the path is quite overgrown (don’t do this walk in shorts!) but this quickly improves. After reaching a woodland clearing, the path broadens out and is clearly waymarked through the woods. Turn around when you’re ready to go back the same way down the hill to return to the garden centre.
