A definite family and dog pleaser of a park, and a good place to let both children and dogs stretch their legs before visiting the Victorian town of Buxton.
Visitor Centre, WC (+ disabled), picnic area, refreshments, shop. Poole's Cavern show cave, famous for the stagmites and stalactites, open in summer and by arrangement in winter.
There's a nice circular walk here starting from the car park and following the path up to the Solomon's Temple viewpoint, good view over Buxton, and then skirting the edge of the woodland and eventually bearing right to return to the car park.
The trees were planted by a Duke of Devonshire at the beginning of the 19th century to conceal the quarry and limeburning activities in the middle of the park. The former quarry area is now a campsite.

We found this to be an excellent place for our dog Jess, she loved the woods and the cafe at the Cavern provided for dogs very well. My 5 year old enjoyed the park and the walk
