Ruff Wood dog walk near Ormskirk, Lancashire

Description

This overgrown ancient quarry gives a good compact wooded walk with the benefit of a wheelchair accessible path to access most parts. This place is sacred to the local dog walkers and I have only witnessed one "unsociable" dog, or owner in over 10 years of visits. The squirrels will give your loose running dog a run for their money The birdlife is amazing too, today I listened to one of the woodpeckers flushing out her nest. There is free parking limited time on Vicarage lane. And of course plenty of muddy pools this March for the Spaniels and Retrievers to enjoy. 5 mins from A59 Ormskirk
