Secret dog-friendly hotel in the Ceiriog Valley, Wales - St Garmons church

Description

It's true that Driving with Dogs is all about walks on the go, and family and dog-friendly cafes and pubs for a civilised snack on your journey. And it's also true that this hotel is not on anyone's way to anywhere. It is one of those secret finds that no-one really wants to share so I'm slightly typing with gritted teeth! The hotel is perfect for weekends or mid-weekers away with the pooch, with walks and dining as good as it gets.

Full Walk Details

If you're staying at the hotel the Upper Ceiriog Way is well worth checking out.  For a shorter walk, take the lane signed towards Oswestry and then bear off left into the churchyard. Pass by the church and leave on the footpath at the far side and enjoy a short stroll by the little river Ceiriog. Saint Garmon was a bishop of Auxerre who became very popular in Wales and if the church is open it's worth having a look and reading about the Alleluia Battle fought hereabouts.
