Traditional stone pub with 4 centuries of pint-pulling behind it. The road used to have a toll booth opposite, in the days of turnpikes. New management has taken over (October 2019) and some renovation work is planned. We called in on spec and were rewarded with excellent home-made soup and cheesy cobs which bodes well for their new menu.
