Full Walk Details
Length of walk: 40-50 minutes
There are three signed routes within the park, all starting from the visitor centre and all are hilly. Strong shoes or wellies are a good idea here, especially in wet weather.
We walked to Windy Harbour and back, to avoid road walking. This route starts by following the yellow arrows to the cenotaph, with big open views across to the Welsh mountains from the top. Then walk between the cenotaph and the view finder on the clear path. Continue towards a set of double gates on the bridleway and over the stiles towards the buildings of Windy Harbour, crossing a wooded valley called Pipers Clough. Carry on uphill and then turn round at Windy Harbour to return the same way.
If you decide to carry on with the signed walk for the Hill Top Circular, be aware that it will take you close to a golf course and a lane used by vehicles, so on-lead walking is a must.
There are two other signed paths here, the Godley Circular (3 miles, with a section of road walking on the A560) and the Gee Cross Circular (2.5 miles with the path running parallel to a road).
