A pretty village with tea room and gentle dog walk, Lancashire
Picture perfect village that looks as if it belongs in the Cotswolds! Tea room in summer and a lovely walk over lush grassy fields.

A charming village, a bit feudal with the Hall on its doorstep. The hotel/pub is dog-friendly and when the Hall gardens are open the walk is a pleasant outing for dogs who enjoy walking on lead.
A pleasant shady dog walk along a former railway track and just under 4 miles from the M1 Junction 35A. It's worlds away from the busy motorway.
This has to be the 'best view from a beer garden' in the county. Totally stunning on a clear day, and worth the winding lanes to get here.
Busy small market town on the edge of the moors and with a somewhat quaint feel and atmosphere.
Impossible to get a good photo of this imposing viewpoint on the moors when a cloud was theatening to swallow us up! But unbeatable for a breath of fresh air and a picnic, or just a stroll with the...
Tiny hamlet amidst the moors with a small car park and very clean public loos. And the walk is perfectly signed from the car park.
A very attractive Yorkshire village in the Howardian Hills with dog-friendly refreshments at a cafe or the village shop for picnic essentials.
This is a wonderfully busy little market town, with a number of cafes as well as dog-friendly pubs and a thriving atmosphere. I'd not heard of it before, but what a great place for a weekend away.
Good choice here of a recreation ground for kids, and a dog walk on a bridleway to the side of the rec. The dog-friendly country inn has loads more space than you'd guess from the outside.
A quiet forest where you're only likely to meet other dog walkers, and not too many of them. The pull-in has space for around 5 cars with careful parking which limits visitor numbers.
A handy place to stop for a picnic without needing to drive in circles on narrow country lanes.
