The character of Ambleteuse is largely defined by its role in military history, and there's a magnificent brooding ruin of a fortress on the stony beach. It's a Vauban fortress, with later additions.
A very easy walk with great views over the Channel.
A dog-friendly country pub with a large car park and easy access from the Evesham Road.
The woodland walk here will delight the dogs, and it's a pity the pub is only open for lunch at weekends.

Nothing really prepares you for the sheer size and age of the trees on the dog walk here. It's a very special atmosphere and definitely one to savour.

A newly created car park with picnic tables and a choice of several good dog walks. As with all the car parks in the Trossachs you need to be early or lucky to get a parking space.
The beach is close to the ferry arrival from Skye, and also a really good place to spot seals. We took the dogs for a romp here and then went on to the nearby Glenelg Inn for lunch.
