This is so incredible, a 15th century building that is still fully in use and looking amazing. It was a farmhouse first, and became a pub later. But what a treat to experience this!
This is where William the Conqueror fought his battle and took the English throne. And Harald lost his eye and a kingdom. Since then the sea has receded so it's not as dramatic as you might expect.
Dog-friendly 14th century castle (with just a bit of restoration) and walk, close to the A21. It's a good family stop with interesting stuff for kids.
Great combo of a turrety medieval castle and a dog-friendly pub with good food and quick service.
Very relaxing to stroll near water, and this is a massive reservoir that was first filled as recently as 1988.
