A very welcoming family run pub with a fantastic atmosphere and great food. It was absolutely buzzing and even though we were staying the restaurant was fully booked on our first night.
Very good dog walk on a leisure path that's shady and perfect for dogs. It was once a rail line serving local coal mines. It's just a minute away from the A19 and easy to find.
We were charmed by this warm and dog-friendly cafe/pub. Good for families and open from breakfast onwards.
First up, this is a hugely popular town in tourist season and if there are no spaces in the car park then you're better off heading for one of the dog-friendly Roman towns or the Wall instead.
