A dog walk by the Shropshire Union canal, Staffordshire
A traditional canalside dog-friendly pub and an easy walk with the dog on the towpath. I love the way that all the different canals have such a different style of brickwork, bridges and locks.

A pretty walk along the Llangollen canal and a dog-friendly pub for refreshments. The pub snuggles alongside a lock and proudly announces it dates back to 1978.
A cool spacious historic coaching inn with 800 year old claims of a connection to King John. Wow! Lovely welcoming feel to the place and the garden is quite a suntrap.
We're charmed by this outstandingly good 16th century country inn with an arboretum for a back garden. Worth the detour to enjoy a very special moment.
A pretty and welcoming dog-friendly cafe with a fabulous walk from the door in one direction, and a doggie swimming spot in the river in the other. Perfect family stop, and B&B accommodation too.
An easy walk on heath and woodland quite close to the A140
A big, bustling waterside pub - dog-friendly of course - and the departure point for trips on a wonderful paddle boat. Pure holiday magic!
The Kings Head is a pretty Georgian building with a roomy terrace at the rear.
Two pubs appear to be battling it out on the same waterside turf here! Both do decent food and we thought the Sun had the edge on dog-friendliness. Ideal spot for a doggie legstretch on the green.
Much more than just a dog walk from a great riverside pub. You'll also find a village shop, gorgeous hand-made chocolates and a cracking good breakfast.
Outstandingly different dog walk by marshes rich with wildlife and history. Definitely worth a special trip to see this and for the coffee and cakes too.
The pub has the enticing aroma of succulent roast dinners, and on a cold day the warmth and sheer comfort of the building is totally winning.
