Come Woof, Come All to the Snoopy Trail!

Come Woof, Come All to the Snoopy Trail!

A much-awaited public art trail featuring 115 Snoopy sculptures, big and small, has been launched in Cardiff, Caerphilly and Porthcawl to raise money for Dogs Trust.

A Dog's Trail with Snoopy began today (Friday 8th April) and will finish on Sunday 5th June. The individually designed sculptures are on show through the streets and open spaces of Cardiff, Caerphilly and Porthcawl forming a trail approximately 23km long in total.   The trail is raising funds for Dogs Trust, which has rehoming centres in Cardiff and Bridgend, to help the charity continue to care for thousands of dogs every year whilst they wait to find new loving families and homes.

Rebecca Staden, Project Manager of A Dog's Trail with Snoopy, said:     "We are so excited to finally unleash our Snoopy sculptures across South Wales and can't wait to see everyone out there exploring the city over the next 8 weeks!   A Dog's Trail will offer everyone, two and four-legged, a fabulous day out and will get people exploring parts of the South Wales they may not have visited before, while helping to support the care we provide to thousands of dogs across South Wales each year."

Of the 40 large sculptures, 24 have been designed by Welsh artists and there are 75 smaller Snoopy sculptures which have been decorated by local schools and community groups.

Trail maps are available from various outlet across the trail route including from Dogs Trust Rehoming Centre in Cardiff and the A Dog's Trail Shop in Mermaid Quay, which is open for the duration of the trail selling everything from Snoopy plush toys and tote bags to dog collar charms and doggie accessories.

The free A Dog's Trail app can be downloaded from the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store to help people sniff out each sculpture, track their progress as they walk the route and take advantage of special offers from businesses along the trail.

Once the trail has ended, there will be a final chance to see all 40 large Snoopy sculptures together at a farewell event at Cardiff City Hall Lawn in Cardiff from 16th-19th June. Tickets for the farewell event will go on sale later this month via www.adogstrail.org.uk. When the trail ends, the sculptures will be auctioned at a special event at the Coal Exchange on 21st June to support the work of Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity.
