Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

Edited: 12th February 2020

A visit to Castle Howard with the dog, Yorkshire

An easy-going walk with the dog through an outstanding 18th century park.  This is treating the dog to high-end garden design on a grand scale.

Entry charge per adult for garden only ticket.  There are WCs and cafes, shops and garden centre at Castle Howard.

Dog info:  "Dogs are welcome at Castle Howard across many areas of the visitor attraction. In the Courtyard Cafe we allow dogs to accompany their humans both inside and outside and the butchers in the farm shop will happily provide you with a bone. We ask that dogs are kept on their leads in the Grounds but are welcome to enjoy all areas of the gardens, but please do not let dogs go in the adventure playground area. Down at the boathouse you'll find nice outdoor seating on the decking and bowls of water for your pooch, plus we serve dog friendly ice cream from the kiosk. Similarly we have plenty of seating in the Boar Garden, and can provide water bowls. Dogs are welcome in the Fitzroy restaurant but please refrain from bringing dogs into the House itself, with the exception of assistance dogs. Dogs are also welcome in the Garden Centre, where we stock a range of doggie items. "

Allow several hours to really savour the gardens at Castle Howard. Dogs are welcome throughout the gardens and, for once, this is a moment to follow your own interests and let the pooch keep pace.
