Find the perfect dog walk on your journey - Driving with Dogs

A379 dog-friendly pub by the beach near Torquay, Devon

Relaxed and welcoming family-run pub near the beach and coast path.

Parking is clearly an issue here. There's a P&D car park with 2.1m height restriction further down the hill. Otherwise it's pot luck on street.

Pub or Cafe Address

Steep Hill, Maidencombe, Torquay TQ1 4TS

Open Tuesday to Sunday. Lunch served from 12 noon. Closed Mondays. For seasonal opening hours and food service times please check their website.

Menu Style

For full menu information, allergens, specials, prices and reservations please check their website.

Dog Rules

Dogs on leads welcome in the bar and outside tables.

Walk down Steep Hill and a turn to the left will take you onto the coast path heading towards Babbacombe Bay and Teignmouth. The right turn goes towards Torquay.  Both routes are close to the cliffs and the path won't suit dogs who are likely to go for an airborne chase of seagulls. Jem seems to believe he's capable of flight, and we never dare take him off-lead on a coast path with cliffs. Other pooches are a lot more sensible. The beach is dog-friendly all year round, and there's a set of steps to get you down there.
