A38 dog walk and cafe near Plymouth, Devon

Premium

Description

National Trust mansion with a most imposing vista. The house was re-modelled by Robert Adam, and makes a delightful backdrop for a walk in all seasons. Dogs are welcome in the woods and parkland (not in the house or other designated areas). Definitely a great place to take a break, with everything on hand to satisfy dogs and passengers alike.

Super Saltram

Visited here recently (mid October) on a journey from Cornwall to South Devon Coast. Highly recommend as a dog stop. There was plenty of safe, open space for dogs to be off lead. There is a circular path walk you can do which takes about an hour. There is a National Trust cafe trailer in the car park serving teas, coffees and cakes or the site cafe is open if you want something more substantial. You don't need to pay to go into the site to access these facilities. Clean loos too. There is a £2 car park fee and they do contactless payments for these if you don't have cash.
